I like this and think we should try to merge it, but I agree with abstractj that we should not rush the review process. The APIs have had a lot of review (and made it into iOS) but the code itself has only been a PR for 4 days (three of those days were holidays or weekend). If we bump this, I would like to release it in a 1.3.1 instead of having to wait for the full blown 1.4.0 (which we only have a vague idea of what we want).
