Having a common framework for delivering both soap and restful service would minimize the libraries and the dependencies on the server side, optimizing also the memory usage (e.g. if you have a service exposed with both soap and rest). Besides Apache CXF provide features not included in Resteasy, like the automatic generation of WADL descriptors. However I doubt requesting a replacement of RestEasy is the right way to achieve it. RestEasy is the top framework which has its community and influenced the way JAX-RS 2.0 has been done.
