[EJB 3.0] - SessionContext.getCallerPrincipal() throws NullPointerExcept

Has anyone seen this? In the embedded container I get this exception from the sessionContext: Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException | at org.jboss.security.plugins.JaasSecurityManager.getPrincipal(JaasSecurityManager.java:348) | at org.jboss.ejb3.BaseSessionContext.getCallerPrincipal(BaseSessionContext.java:177) | at net.pay.security.service.PaymentServiceBean.save(PaymentServiceBean.java:97) | I set up the initial ctx with the user/pwd and the slsb is annotated with the RolesAllowed and SecurityDomain. The interesting thing is that if I comment out the annotations then getCallerPrincipal() works fine. Suggest you look at deploying in an ear file. I put all jars/wars into the root of the EAR and then reference them in META-INF/application.xml. i.e. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/application_1_4.xsd"> <display-name>MyAppEAR</display-name> PortletUtils.jar jboss-seam.jar jboss-seam-ui.jar MyAppEJB.jar <web-uri>MyAppWeb.war</web-uri> Don't forget META-INF/jboss-app.xml to define your class loader i.e. <jboss-app> <loader-repository> seam.jboss.org:loader=myapp-loader </loader-repository> </jboss-app> Hope this helps. Beta2 had a new and noteworthy: http://docs.jboss.org/jbosside/jboss-as/NewAndNoteworthy/jbosside2.0.0.be... Specifically, I believe, the ejb project tutorial / demo demonstrates some debugging. To summarize, though, changing a .java file will automatically hot-code replace. Changing jsp's will not. This is until we finish new packaging schemes that will allow you to designate your project's build folder to be a folder watched by jboss for changes. [JBoss Eclipse IDE (users)] - Hot code replacing in debugging?

Hi everyone, I've beening using WSAD 5.1/RAD 6 in my previous work and now I am working in another company that uses JBoss Eclipse IDE. When I was using WSAD, I was able to make a change in the code (JSP or Servlet or EJB) and without restarting the testing server, to see the change in the running app. However, it looks like this is not possible with JBoss IDE, or maybe since I am new to JBoss, there is some configuration I missed. But anyway, if I make a code in my JBoss IDE, I have to repackage the EAR and redeploy the EAR for the change to take effect. I wonder if there is anyway to do the hot code replacing as that of WSAD. Any suggestion and help will be appreciated. BTW, I am using JBoss IDE 1.6 GA and JBoss server 4.0.1. [EJB 3.0] - deployment question (dependent jar files)

I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around the EJB3 deployment process. I see how I can deploy my EJB jar file (ie. myejb.jar) directly into server/default/deploy, but what do I do with jar files that my EJBs depend on (ie myapi.jar)? Do I just put them in server/default/lib? (although I'd definitely prefer not to do that) Thanks. [Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - Re: war file webcontext not available after restart

One thing I forgot to mention is: - After restart I can delete the webapp.war file, I see that the app is undeployed. - Now if I recopy the webapp.war with JBoss still running, the war file is successfully deployed and the context works in IE. If I restart JBoss, I lose the context again. Hope this will help you point what I am missing. I encountered the same problem. I have a portlet that produces a PNG image. The portlet writes the PNG data to the PortletOutputStream.
