OK, so this looks a little bit involved. The CNFE seems to occur when MyFaces deserializes the component tree. I don't see why MyFaces would have serialized your component into the tree? Are you using the evil Tomahawk stuff (I have seen Tomahawk try to do that to some users, I think.) Are you using client-side conversations? The log also shows an NPE also occurring. I suppose you are saying that the CNFE actually happens first and is the cause of the NPE? From the look of the stack traces that might be possible. The thing is that the NPE is occurring on a line of code that doesn't exist in the lastest Seam 1.1 codebase. So are you using an older build of 1.1? What happens if you grab the very latest revision of the code? Is there still an NPE? What line number? Are you able to produce a very minimal stripped-down runnable test case that reproduces this? It looks to be an old jdbc driver problem. The last TSQL statement executed was: exec sp_closecursor;1. Found on the web that an old ms sql 2000 jdbc driver would fail. I switched to the new 2005 driver and all looks to be in order. Let me see if I understand correctly. You want two different portals, each running in it own application server and using its own database. But you want to define the portal only once. [Beginners Corner] - NoClassDefFoundError when application deployed in ear

Hi, I have an application that works fine on JBoss when the jar files are deployed separately but throws a NoClassDefFoundError when they are deployed in a .ear file together. I studied the FAQ about this topic and I know the Class-Path manifest header but I was not able to solve my problem. I describe the content of my ear file and the references between them. | application.ear | framework.jar | (EJB Module, contains the remove interfaces too). | Class-Path: plugin1.jar plugin2.jar framework.jar | plugin1.jar | (Utility classes) | Class-Path: business-logic.jar | plugin2.jar | (Utility classes) | Class-Path: business-logic.jar | business-logic.jar | (Utility classes) | Class-Path: framework.jar | As you can see there are circular references between the jar files (i.e framework.jar - plugin1.jar - business-logic.jar - framework.jar). I suspect this could be the cause of the problem. Even an EJB module participates in a circle. Does the J2EE standard allow such circular references between the jar files in an ear file? I have a class that I am trying to compile that has the following libraries: import java.util.*; import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.*; import javax.servlet.jsp.*; import java.io.*; I was told that I need some sort of .jar file to make this file compile. Does anyone know what I am looking for and how I would go about compiling this properly with the .jar file I supossedly need?
