[JBoss Portal] - Re: how to hide a portlet/pages that user doesn't have view

Follow the example provided by the 'default' portal and the 'Admin' page. Note the security settings on the portal - unchecked has both view and personalizerecursive access. Note the security on the News, Test and default pages - unchecked has viewrecursive access. Note the security in the Admin page - Admin has viewrecursive access. So, for example, if you add a new role, Manager, and add a new page, ManagerStuff, then to allow only users in the Manager role to see that page, set Manager to have viewrecursive access to the ManagerStuff page. An alternative is to not specify any access rights at the portal level and then define specific role access for each page. This may just be a problem with jboss-serialization.jar and nothing to do with JBoss Cache at all. Clebert's investigating the potential problem with jboss-serialization. http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSER-89 FYI, JBoss Cache 1.4.0.GA and 1.4.0.SP1 both ship with jboss-serialization-1.0.1.GA. The potential upside is that if it is a bug in jboss-serialization, fixing the issue will just be upgrading the one jar, and it should be backward-compatible with JBoss Cache 1.4.0.XX. I'm using the TreeCache for a different purpose than I'm using the PojoCache . When I use the TreeCache all works fine, and when I use the PojoCache in only one PC it works fine. The problem is when I try to use the PojoCache in more than one PC. How did you unzip the zip file? You did not, by any chance, drag all of the files out of WinZip into the c:\jboss directory? I am also curious as to how you got the directory c:\jboss. The reason I ask is that the zip file contains a base directory name jboss-4.0.4.GA, so I would expect c:\jboss-4.0.4.GA. Using an earlier version of JBoss will not solve the problem. They are all packaged the same and we need to find out why it did not get unpackaged properly on your PC. I've been working in EJB, trying to deploy the EJB as Web Service, I have some kind of problem in code(EJB deploy in Web Service) which works in JBoss 3.2.7 well. If you open the JBoss Server's View and expand the Event Log, and then try to deploy, you will see some data as to how the publish progressed, whether teh file was manually coppied or not, etc. If you open the properties view and select one of these event elements, the properties view will show increased data about the process. Hopefully this will help you figure out what is happening, and you can always report back to me with this increased data.
