Yes, on Windows there is a big difference between turning off the firewall (by clicking a 'turn off' button within the firewall app), and actually disabling it (and possibly rebooting without it). I have experienced similar issues with ZoneAlarm. Dan, thats not a bad idea e.g. exposed as #{converters['javax.faces.NumberConverter'} - you should file a feature request. Matthew, I would suggest using an el function rather than a seam component - separates the view and backing layer better. I solved the problem... I uninstalled my firewall and then it worked well.... Although I deactivated it, it still blocked somehow. I used the Ashampoo Firewall...perhaps other users have the same problems...
