[Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Hibernate proxy class problem

Hi, I'm having the following odd situation: | @Entity | @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED) | public abstract class Customer { @Id private int id; } | | @Entity | public class SomeCustomer extends Customer { private String name; } | I'm using Entity Manager to retrieve entities by their primary key: | entityManager.find(Customer.class, 5); | The primary key 5 belongs to a SomeCustomer entity. It's in the id field of both Customer and SomeCustomer tables (due to join inheritance). However, the query returns an object that has the type Customer_$$_javassist_16 that cannot be cast to SomeCustomer (ClassCastException). However, if I execute the following query: | entityManager.find(SomeCustomer.class, 5); | I will see a warning in my logfile: ProxyWarnLog: Narrowing proxy to class SomeCustomer - this operation breaks == Subsequent call to the first find() query will now also return the right object of the right type. Does anybody know what's going on here or how I can manually narrow down my proxy object to what I want to have if it fails? Thanks for all your help in this. I really wish I could have dedicated more to it before you did, but hey, thats hte benefit of community right? I will definitely try to have this fixed for CR1. >> What does this idiom "copied = copied &&" do ? That's my attempt to make sure *all* files were copied correctly. If any single file is not copied, the end value of copied would be false. I realize I probably don't do anything with that value in the end, but it's there for me to then use in the Event Log. I'll need to make sure that shows up in the event log, or find a better way to report it. Again, thanks definitely for all the help here. Your tips are going to be very helpful. Changing TreeMap to HashMap fixed the problem.. I still stumped, why is it a problem to use TreeMap? [Remoting] - Re: Socket closed exception

I did post this issue first in the Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT forum thinking it is a configuration issue. I can recreate the exception at a certain transaction rate on windows. Now I am trying on Linux, and so far no socket exceptions. anonymous wrote : I'm curious though: what are you experiencing other than these exceptions in the log? Whatever is going on seems to be significant enough to cause some pretty noticeable behavior. Nothing abnormal appears in the logs before this exception, and the exception crashes the server. To get my tests to work in Eclipse using the JUnit plugin, I had to add my src/main/webapp folder to the classpath (under Run As/JUnit) and make sure init() and begin() were called at the top of the test method (must be a better way, especially since none of the official Seam tests do that, but so far is the only way I can get things to work). my tests still doesn't work (thru testng plugin) when i run tests run from eclipse, of couse running tests from maven still fails .....
