I currently have an abstract base class public abstract AbstractFoo { init() { } } public Foo extends AbstractFoo { @In private SomeObj seamcomp1; public Foo() { init(); } } When I create an object of Foo will seamcomp1 be initialized i.e would it have had it value injected? Please update doco on 12.4.2. Configuring a rules file Seam Security expects to find a RuleBase component called securityRules which it uses to evaluate permission checks. Try out seam-gen in current Seam CVS. It shows you how to implement a "select associated entity" page. This is not quite the case you are trying to handle here (your case is much easier), but it might get you thinking. The problem was caused by our SecurityMetadataStore that was pushing the new Principal/Credential on the thread local's authentication info stack. I just removed that. All tests pass (including the one that I wrote for the bug). Tim, any particular reason you did the "SecurityActions.pushSubjectContext(principal, passwordChars, subject)" thing for? I used seam-gen from 1.1.6 GA to create a reverse-engineered project. I have a table with a self join. (Note that in order to use generate-entities, I had to drop the foreign key constraint, then I doctored the generated project a bit to restore the object relationship.) Clearly, I need to use that String key to find the object instance, and then assign that to the object being edited... Anybody have an example? I can imagine the code to do this, but I am really wondering what the best practice is. Can I use the CurrencyHome or CurrencyList object in some fashion, or do I need to create another bean? (I am a little surprised that I couldn't find an example in the Seam documentation.)
