[JBoss jBPM] - Task characterization

Hello. I am working on a Workflow project that requires, after a process is instantiated, information on the several tasks that compose it, so that a list of tasks/things to do can be shown to the user/actor, before starting work. My idea was to have a list of variables, in each of the task-nodes, with values that help to characterize it. These variables would then be read and displayed BEFORE the task-node is instantiated. Can I do this? How do I create variables with values in each task node? If not, is there any other way that I can do this -> obtain task-node information before instantiating the node? [JBoss jBPM] - Can I get to the parent process, given a sub-process?

Sorry, probably simple but I cannot figger it out... Can I, given a task in a sub-process, find it's calling <process-state>? Looking in the debugger (the process being started through Seam and the taskInstance and processInstance also injected by Seam) I get many null values, such as: taskInstance.token.parent == null taskInstance.token.isAbleToReactiveParent == true processInstance.rootToken == null processInstance.superProcessToken == null Of course, I can write a query to get it from the database myself (I actually only need read-access). I wonder why table JBPM_TOKEN has NULL in column PARENT_ (jBPM 3.1.4; might simply be obsolete), but the parent token does in fact link to its (active) child using column SUBPROCESSINSTANCE_. In table JPBM_PROCESSINSTANCE the sub process refers to the parent using column SUPERPROCESSTOKEN_. So, surely doable. [JBossCache] - Starting a cache instance at application startup

Guys, can you give me advice on the good way(s) to start a cache instance when on application startup (in my case on Weblogic) ? My idea is this : a CacheManager singleton is instanciated by the classloader (or by the Spring BeanFactory, whichever), the TreeCache instance -myCache- is an attribute of CacheManager, and an ApplicationListener calls the static start() method of my CacheManager which will instanciate myCache and call myCache.startService() Does this sound good to you, or is there a simpler or smarter way ? I will repeat the parts that i have written anonymous wrote : but AFAIK you are losing seam managed transactions. But if i am wrong, and external datasources in combination with seam managed transactions in tomcat are possible, please tell me how. These things shouldn't be bound in the HA-JNDI Namespace; they should be in the Global JNDI Namespace. Did you alter server/all/conf/jndi.properties? If you did, don't. [JBoss Portal] - Getting user and group information from withing a portlet

How do I get to the user object from within a Portlet's doView (or doEdit) method. The only way that I've been able to do it is by having my Portlet extend JBossPortlet, which then ties me to JBoss classes. I'm OK with this, but I was wondering if there was a better approach.
