I think the easiest way is to install 4.0.5 with EJB3 support from the GUI installer once on one box. Then, you can copy the installation directory to any other computer via an automated script. [JBoss Seam] - Non-JEMS installer

What is it about the .zip version of JBoss 4.0.5 that doesn't allow Seam to run on it? I'm evaluating NGASI AppServer Manager. They have JBoss AS 4.0.5 support, by way of an automated download, but I'm guessing that it's the zip version. Smithbstl, The "lightweight" book is primely focused on JSF and EJB3 (the JEE 5 stuff in JBoss 5). No. I thought with EJB3, the JNDI name should be defaulted the unqualified classname. Do I need an explicit JNDI name if I were to deploy with EAR file? Deployment with JAR did not seem to require the JNDI names at all. Ok. Logging into the application now works. The trick was to have the following lines in the jboss-web.xml: | <context-root>/</context-root> | <virtual-host>newhost</virtual-host> | I also had to move my .war file back into the deploy folder. What I noticed was that the class org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsersRolesLoginModule never seemed to be called (by inspecting the server.log), if the above definition was not present. The only way to get that class to be called during application login ,was to have the war file in the <JBOSS_ROOT>/server/default/deploy folder. I will try to help: Q1: If you need only one cascade type value you use the single item notation: cascade=CascadeType.ALL You can OR the casace type values: The following sample will cascade any operation beside a delete (and here you will need the array notation): cascade={CascadeType.MERGE, CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.REFRESH} Q2: I think you don't need to initialize the relationship field with a value. Set it to null, the container will do the rest. When you create relationship items you should update both sides of the relationship. [JBossCache] - Bean replication is incomplete

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question and I just missed an important detail. I am staring at the code for hours and just don't see the solution. Don't know if it is a bug, so posting here. WinXP, 1.4.1.SP2 "Cayenne" I have a simple bean, @org.jboss.cache.aop.annotation.InstanceOfPojoCacheable public class Participant implements java.io.Serializable That has a bunch of strings/longs and a couple of enumerations. As far as I can see, the bean class and enums are being AOPed fine. I have 2 test program instances on the same machine (the usual mcast UDP JGroups sync repl config). I have one instance add 10 random beans, other sit there and listen. Again everyting looks fine. The only delta I can discern is the: " _lock_=LOCK" entry in the bean node that is not present in enums. So I went back and printed lock status. Seems all nodes are unlocked, as expected. The code that adds beans is simple: DummyTransactionManager txMgr = DummyTransactionManager.getInstance(); DummyUserTransaction tx =null; for (int index=0; index < SAMPLE_DATA_SIZE; index++) { bean = Participant.createRandomBean(); ... tx = new DummyUserTransaction( txMgr ); tx.begin(); cache.putObject(new Fqn(PARTICIPANT_ROOT, bean.getSysId()), bean); tx.commit(); } The program instance that creates beans has no issues accessing them. It is only the other instance which gets beans via replication that cannot see them in the cache. For brevity I skipped most of the code and config, so let me know if you need more. I am guessing that I missed an important detail, but cannot see what it is. I would assume that after a successful commit all locks are released and bean is available for access on any node. Have you give JNDI name to your EJB ?
