Hi Gavin, Thanks for the reply. Common database errors like constraints, uniqueness etc. So what is your recommended approach in this case? 1. Provide custom validation interceptor to handle chcking of the constraints. One needs to anticipate all the possible database errors though. Or 2. Make the error happen, end the current conversation and provide a way to recreate back the conversation and position to where you left off (Sounds like jbpm doesn't it?). But its a normal CRUD and not a worfklow app so I think a business process is an overkill. Is there a way we can re-create the conversation? Is this what propagation does? Classpath, classpath, classpath, classpath, classpath. I had some errors like the ones you're seeing once upon a time when I had a resources directory set as both a source path and a module library path in my IDE. Take a stop back and see if you can get one of the base Seam examples deploying under Tomcat ("ant deploy.tomcat" in any Seam directory). If you can, then the problem is almost certainly something subtle in your WEB-INF directory and in your webapp's file layout. Pay special attention to WEB-INF and META-INF, and compare every single freaking file in there to the contents of the .war file from the Seam example. Of course you're getting stale data -- you're using SESSION scope and an extended persistence context that never changes during the bean's lifetime. Same PC, same isolated view of the database for the whole session. Seam certainly doesn't discourage using Stateful Session Beans, it discourages using session *scope* for anything that isn't truly session-global. I recommend using stateless beans for simple search and view pages, and conversation scoped (the default) when you want to manipulate the results without re-querying. Are you using any other JARs in your project that reference Seam in any way? Or are there any JARs that contain any other custom listeners or faces-config.xml files? Can you deploy the existing examples to tomcat with "ant deploy.tomcat" and run them? Jason DeTiberus has actually just beaten me to a working test integration of GWT and Seam, and he had issues with error messages about duplicate Seam phase listeners, even though what he had was a GwtPhaseListener (from the g4jsf-cdk) and a SeamPhaseListener. So it's possible that multiple listeners can (in some permutations) confuse the Seam listener into double invocations. Or something. I should get to try his code this weekend and will try to produce a more detailed analysis then.
