[JBoss jBPM] - JBPM_VARIABLEINSTANCE.STRINGVALUE_ bug in 3.1.4

This is a forum entry to report a possible bug in JBPM 3.1.4, Oracle (not sure about others) DB scripts. System: JBossAS 4.0.5 GA + jBPM 3.1.4 GA + RHEL 4 + Oracle 10g. The column JBPM_VARIABLEINSTANCE.STRINGVALUE_ is slated as VARCHAR2(255 char) while JBPM_LOG.OLDSTRINGVALUE_ and JBPM.NEWSTRINGVALUE_ are slated as VARCHAR2(4000). These two values should be a match between each other. FIX: Change the DB script for JBPM_VARIABLEINSTANCE, field STRINGVALUE_, from VARCHAR2(255 char) to VARCHAR2(4000 char). We should probably try to make the EJB3 deployer more flexible instead. On the other hand, your approach would work on other appservers. So I *think* we can get the same thing for ejb3 components by deploying them into WEB-INF/dev and loading them using E-EJB3. However, I'm not sure that E-EJB3 currently runs inside JBoss, so I would probably need some changes there. [Remoting] - behavior on failure (cont)

The callbacks are "push callbacks" Another question: In the server side, I use the handleCallback() method to send a callback to a client. The handleCallback() method is invoked by my application thread. Is the serialization done by my application thread or another thread is used for the serialization? Is the callback delivered by my application thread or another thread is used for the delivering? what tasks are my application thread used for? Thanx in advance. [JBoss Seam] - injecting today's date

Would like to inject today's date in a field of an entity, is there an annotation like @date, or equivalent? Along with that, would like to inject the Identity's username as well. Any hints? [JBoss Seam] - Re: Seam gen wire() problem

Those *Home.java, *List.java *.page.xml , etc. were generated under seam 1.1.7 and are running under 1.2.0. I did not re-run seam to generate the projects, since I did a lot of modifications to the genrated pages. It is obvious that the code generated using 1.2 seam-gen are different from that using 1.1.7. I'd like to know what could cause this exception and any simple solutions to fix that. thanks. [JBoss Seam] - Re: Excel support in Seam: any interest?

I'd like to add my two cents... First off, I agree that a displaytag equivalent is a great idea! Sometimes a simple solution is the best. And I too have searched for a JSF equivalent to displaytag. I would love to see Seam (or one of the Faces sister projects) provide something like this. As far as creating true Excel sheets (similar to creating PDF), that would also be a nice feature. But the simpler displaytag case whereby a user can export a grid into Excel is a higher priority for me that I would expect to use more frequently. For what it is worth, I have been using a simple strategy for several years now to create an Excel file: simply create an HTML page and specify the content type to be "application/vnd.ms-excel". In ColdFusion, there is a cfcontent tag:<cfcontent type="application/vnd.ms-excel">And Java/JSP has a similar mechanism (see javax.servlet.ServletResponse.setContentType). The neat thing about the HTML import is that a lot of formatting is maintained. I've even managed to build formulas and Pivot Tables via HTML.
