[JBoss Seam] - Another Gotcha using JBoss Web Services

Hi, Just posting this because we found another snag using web services with JBoss. In a nutshell your web.xml gets modified at runtime and a copy is made to web.xml.org. First time you run everything is fine. However, on second run your web services will not work. I've posted this problem with a workaround to the web service forum. My first post... I know this is an old thread but I ran into the same problem starting out and I wanted to post this possible solution for any others in the same shoes. I recommend using the appropriate init.d script that come with JBoss and can be found in the $JBOSS_HOME/bin directory. The startup command in the script binds to address 0.0.0.0 (which is all addresses) and should eliminate the localhost error. [JBossWS] - Wrapped vs bare document in User Guide are confusing

Hi, there: I guess the description in User Guide about Wrapped and Bare document are confusing, and examples are kind of misleading. For bare document the example is: | @WebMethod | public SubmitBareResponse submitPO(SubmitBareRequest poRequest) | while for wrapped document the example is: | public String submitPO(String product, int quantity) | However, the bare document style should be "method PARAMETERS represent the entire message body" and the wrapped document should be "the parameters are elements wrapped inside a top-level element". It will be way more clear if User Guide can switch the examples in that section. Just my 2 cents, I'm a newbie to webservice. Please feel free to correct my above comments if I was wrong. [JBossWS] - web.xml modified to web.xml.org - Subsequent runs fail

Hi, On July 7, we download the SVN version of JBossWS 2.0.0.0.GA and also JBoss-4.2.1.GA version of application server. I also believe this problem occurred with JBossWS 1.2.1GA and JBoss-4.2.0.GA of the application server. We could deploy our exploded EAR file the first time and our web services would run just fine. However, the second time we ran the application server we would get errors saying failed to find endpoint for service etc. Finally we figured out that our web.xml in the WEB-INF directory was being overwritten and a copy was placed to web.xml.org. The original web.xml contains something like this: | <servlet> | <servlet-name>DBService</servlet-name> | <servlet-class>com.clooster.web.services.db.EJB3RemoteDBServiceBean</servlet-class> | </servlet> | | <servlet-mapping> | <servlet-name>DBService</servlet-name> | <url-pattern>/common/services/DBService</url-pattern> | </servlet-mapping> | At runtime this is modified to be: | <servlet> | <servlet-name>DBService</servlet-name> | <servlet-class>org.jboss.wsf.stack.jbws.ServiceEndpointServlet</servlet-class> | <init-param> | <param-name>jboss.ws.endpoint</param-name> | <param-value>com.clooster.web.services.db.EJB3RemoteDBServiceBean</param-value> | </init-param> | </servlet> | <servlet-mapping> | <servlet-name>DBService</servlet-name> | <url-pattern>/common/services/DBService</url-pattern> | </servlet-mapping> | I'm thinking the correct behaviour would be that this web.xml.org gets copied back to web.xml on shutdown of application server. Is this correct because if so its not happening - we have verified this on like 5 windows machines. We have now modified our run.bat to check for existence of web.xml.org and if it exists copy it to web.xml. Once we do this our web services seem to always deploy correctly. Can someone please advise? And I don't know which seam version it is based on and how practical it is. I hope that Gavin will write a seam book("Seam in Action"?) for us in the near future. Added to the above query. Tried to fix the issue by looping through all the forms in the document and get the correct form name and apply the logic. It is working until i submit the form, once submitted the logic goes off. This issue is not happening always, its happening for frequent form submission. Thanks. [JBoss Seam] - When joinTransaction() should I call?

Hi, Now I struggle with the transaction and persistence context propagation :( I found that the joinTransaction() methods were called in the following codes: (1)EntityHome.joinTransaction() are called in persist(), update() and remove() of the EntityHome(with @Transactional). (2)seam-managed-EntityManager.joinTransaction() are called in the Dao components(with @Transactional) of the examples/wiki. *** Q1 *** What does each(EntityHome and seam-managed EntityManager) joinTransaction() do? When should I call each method? I suppose it is related to the persistence context propagation. *** Q2 *** What is the difference between @Transactional and joinTransaction()? *** request *** I was not able to find the detailed information about the joinTransaction() methods in the official documents. I hope that this will be described in the reference guide and/or javadoc (if important for the seam app developers). my environments: -JBoss AS 4.2.0.GA -JBoss Seam 2.0.0.BETA1(CVS) Thanks in advance.
