By any chance are you using the text field as part of a data entry form or similar and then using submit at which point the error occurs? You might want to try this: 1) Click on the text field 2) Check the Properties sidebar, Data section 'required' is unticked If that doesn't solve it, the way I did on my project (done using JBP 2.4.1 as I haven't moved to 2.6 yet) was to check for the text field for null and then set it to be a value if null and set in the sessionbean. Assuming you are using a submit button, then put that check in the button_action() method. If you are setting data into the textfield, make sure it is in the prerender() method. The manual says it can be done with @Begin(id="El-Expression"). But the id parameter seems to be deprecated. Whats the deal with it? Is there any other possibility to set an explicit conversation id? JBoss AS: 4.2.0 Java: 1.6.0_02 Seam: 2.0.0BETA1 I don't know if this is a Seam error or RichFaces... I have downloaded the most recent RichFaces and Ajax4Jsf jars and replaced them within my Seam Web App's WEB-INF/lib. It was just released... [Beginners Corner] - Error running JBoss AS for first time under Kurumin

Hi, I am having problems when I try to run Jboss for first time in my computer, this in order to be used as a Application Server of Compiere (the open source ERP). It seems like the ports configured are already used, but checking the tasks and process, they are not running with other application. Also, I checked the possibility of a firewall, but no firewall is implemented in my computer. You got it. As far as what you were saying before.... you should be able to have a page scoped attribute remain set indefinitely as long as your action method returns null, or match some other type of navigation rule that causes the page to be re-rendered. I've never tried it, I'm not a big fan of page scope because of the serialization, but I think it should work.
