[Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Cannot get Hibernate SQL logging to work in 4.0.5.GA

JBoss 4.0.5.GA, whatever version of Hibernate came with it In persistence.xml: I print out the property value in my app and it shows to be true. I never see any logging for hibernate of any kind. I even changed log4j.xml to have org.hibernate priority="DEBUG". I have had this working in 4.0.4.GA. What changed? What am I missing? FYI: I noticed in 4.0.5.GA System.out.println ias also not writing to the log or the console whereas it did in 4.0.4.GA. Suggestions? Ales, As mentioned before, I have an EAR (ejb3.ear) with spring-inject.jar (spring-module) , ejb3.war (web module) and ejb3.jar (ejb 3 module). [JBoss Seam] - query object question...

I am trying to use EntityQuery for display in a data table and use Seam pagination. I seem to get an error that atleast one value binding is required in the restriction. Hi Shane: Have you tried with just tomcat6 (jdk1.6) and GWT-1.4 (jdk1.4)? As explained in my posting, i use Seam-2.0.1-CR1, mapped SeamResourceServlet to /hub/resource/* and the endpoint URL in GWT widget to /hub/resource/gwt. I make sure that it works as stand-alone Seam Jpa example and GWT KitchenSink. The RPC integration did not work for me :-(. Is it worth to try the latest version from the source? [JBoss jBPM] - Re: TaskInstance Problem

I did some research and i figured (not sure..) that jbpm uses the FileDefinition object to load the class byte array from the a database, and then with a specialize class, subclass of ClassLoader, loads the class from the byte array. But i still don't know where the binary class data is stored, i checked out the jbpm database and there is nothing stored besides the jbpm_byte_block table that is used to stored some object variables or something like that. Also i cheked the size of jbpm/server folder and when i do the deploy the size doesn't change, so i guess it's not using some embeded database. Any suggestion / comment / whatever... ?? I removed jboss-embedded-api.jar from my lib folder. I guess I goofed up while listing the jars (I listed jars from my seam2.0.0GA build) - pls refer to my first post for jars I included from seam2.0.1.CR1 build). In short I do not have jboss-deployers.jar included when I get this error. After removing jboss-embedded-api deploy still fails with MalformedURLException. 2.1.0 CR2 is correct. We are not using anything extra apart from turning on buddy replication and using data gravitation. I tried to recreate it today as well in a separate unit-test but with no success so far. I will give it another shot tomorrow since I think the underlying use case scenario is what might be triggering this. I am having trouble understanding the documentation with respect to how to configure the Visual Facelet editor to properly display CSS and taglibs. (chapter 8, figure 8.50 " Page Design Options"). My project is generated from seam-gen which I imported as a normal Java project. I've added the Seam nature to the project. I've set the CSS file path as Project scoped and to the absolute path of my CSS file -- that seems to work (background color and some text attributes are rendered according to the CSS). However, even so "visual" editor shows lots of tag markup that is anything but "WYSIWYG" -- e.g., each s:decorate is displayed as | s:decorate /path/to/some/template.xhtml | ui:define label | some text which is the label | Do I need to do something to get the Seam and Facelet tags to be rendered "visually"? Also, I have some project specific taglibs. It's not clear to me what I am to set in the "URI" section for my project taglib to be properly rendered. etc. If a facelet page defines my taglib via: | <ui:composition xmlns:mytags="http://domain.com/jsf/mytags" | I've tried setting the "prefix" to "mytags" and the URI to "http://domain.com/jsf/mytags" but I see no change in the visual rendering. First, it would help is you posted the full log message, including stack trace, for the error. The 'caused by' text is usually not sufficient. Second, try changing the localhost line in your /etc/hosts file to: 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.locadomain Also, the entry for fattony should probably have the IP address of the machine. Also, try running with JDK 1.5 (instead of 1.6 because 1.6 is not supported on JBossAS 4.2.x). Also, try setting the "-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true" JVM option on the command line. Finally, which Linux are you running (I'm guessing one of the Ubuntu variations...) Ok, thanks very much, now I'm on the good road :) So, my last idea is: - a plugin will be a .war file (it's easy to develop it on Eclipse, separately) - the web application base will load a directories with .war files - a .war files is unpackaged and will be a part of "web_plugin.war" modules (exploded archive) which is empty at the start of the application (first time or not, ...) So, I got 2 web modules: - web_base - web_plugin the second module will be filled by all files contained into .war files on a specific directories .. I think that idea must work, but actually, I must open a gived WAR file .. unpack it, copy files to web_plugin.war and update the application (if needed). All of that work must be hardcoded in Java, so ... first: try to deploy a helloworld plugin which contains only a html page ... [JBoss Tools (users)] - Seam validator always running

I am getting a large amount of warnings ( > 1000) on Seam components. On every save, build, etc., the Seam validator chisels away at these warnings. You can watch the number of warnings decrease over time. Once this number of warnings is reduced to, say, 200...the number goes right back up to 1000+. The next time Seam validator runs, which seems to be at all times, it again chisels away against these warnings only to repeat the above process. Is there something I have done wrong with the configuration of the project? Anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks. [JBoss Portal] - Show/hide widgets programmatically

hi, we have hidden the "configure" screen but want to be able to show or hide the widgets (all of them are exposed by default) programmatically, or via a simple SQL script. this is particularly important since we have an issue with the widgets disappearing at random and want to be able to add them back. any thoughts on how this could be done? it would also be useful if the widgets can be hidden to certain users/roles while they are visible to others. thanks. The deployable module is a war file with following folders: css images scripts meta-inf web-inf web-inf/classes web-inf/lib web-inf/data where the data folder contains some xml files read in by application scoped beans. The files are loaded using org.jboss.seam.core.ResourceLoader.instance().getResourceAsStream(resource). where resource values are strings like "WEB-INF/data/filename". The input stream returned by ResourceLeader is passed on to SAXReader for parsing. Hi, jboss seems to send pages in ISO-8859-1 format, but I'd need dem in UTF-8 format. I think the name seam.properties is bit misleading. Usual property files are loaded from classpath. I think many developers will make this assumption and make mistake like I did. Perhaps the file should be named more appropriately like "seamscan.marker" ? Also, pointing this subtle difference of seam.properties in the chapter on seam testing will be a good idea. I appreciate your efforts in trying the sample application. How are you determining that the BMP isn't deployed? I see the CustomerApplication.ear and Customer.jar deployed in the J2EE section of the JMX Console output. I also see the persistence unit registered in the JNDI output. I previously developed a session bean and it was deployed and registered in JNDI successfully. Any other ideas? [JBossCache] - Singleton TreeCache Provider

Hi, I want to configure JBossCache as a secondary cache in my application which uses Hibernate to load the data. I have multiple databases to connect to and to load data from each of them. I want to be able to make use of the same instance of JBoss Tree Cache to be shared across all the SessionFactories that I have in my JVM. Hence I want it to be a singleton. EHCache provides this facility with SingletonEHCacheProvider implementation. Is there anything similar in JBossCache as well? Thanks, Kalyan. Here is what I understand about "overriding the recursing permissions" (I am only using roles): for a given directory, if one overrides the read permission, i.e for at least one role, the read permission is redefined for all the roles (get it if explicitly selected / lose it if explicitly not selected). And also the write and manage permissions are redefined, even if their selection lists are not modified. It that right ? (anyway it is not so obvious for me - lots of tests to look over those grantings). The following tests have been done. Well first this does not seem applicable to "admin" user : it keeps all the rights whatever I give or not to Administrators role. OK, I keep it apart. So I create "myAdmin" with the "Administrators" role. Here is what I got with "myAdmin" and the other users and directory we use in the previous posts (users with the same name as the role for each "myRole" and "myRole2") : - All the roles have the read permission on "/" excepted "anonymous" and "users", and "Administrators" have the write and manage permissions. - I redefined the read permission of "/default" : only "anonymous" and "users" have it this is OK, "myRole", "myRole2", "mySupervisor" and "myAdmin" have no more access to "default" neither to /default/index.html on the home page . | And they have always access to "/MyTopDirectory". | Anonymous and users have access to /default/index.html (what does happen if a user has "myRole" and "users" ?.... See that another time, above all on the directories access while using the CMS). - I redefined the write permission on "/MyTopDirectory" to give it to "mySupervisor" (the one that has to organize this directory) This is not OK because | 1) "access denied" exception happens to "mySupervisor" when trying "create folder" or "upload file" <<<< this is a big problem (1) | 2) "myRole", "myRole2" and "myAdmin" has no more read access to "/MyTopDirectory". | "myAdmin" cannot any more "create folder" in "/" : "java.lang.Exception: Not a valid basePath null". | But it works if there is another directory it has access (in the first test, there was no more accessible directory) <<<< this is (?) a small problem - I redefined the read permissions on "/MyTopDirectory" to give it to "myRole" and "myRole2", and the manage permission to "Administrators" 1) "myRole" and "myRole2" did not get the read permission <<<<< this is a big problem (2) | 2) "myAdmin" got the manage permission and the write permission Please tell me if I can do something to give write access to "/MyTopDirectory" for "mySupervisor" (cf.
