[JNDI/Naming/Network] - Re: SQL query missinterperted in JBOSS. How can I correct it

Note this line: 2008-08-22 12:06:22,447 DEBUG [com.base.SqlEngine] debug2 ====> com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybSQLException: Invalid column name ' ' . This means that the Sybase JDBC driver is complaining about the syntax of the SQL statement. Have you asked the Sybase support team to help you with this? (Note that JBossAS has nothing to do with this error.) [JBoss Portal] - Re: Portlet Security Constraints

Peter, Is there any way to manage this outside of the portlet application's portlet-instances.xml file? I.e. in our custom *-object.xml file? The reasoning for us to need this is that our user roles may be dynamic and redeploying our entire system's EAR just to update a single xml file in a single portlication's WAR is a bit heavy handed. We keep our topology in a *-object.xml file in a separate "skeleton" WAR that can be deployed independent of the portlications' EAR. Hi, The app server cannot bind to that port because it is already in use. If you are using JBoss 4.2.3GA, you can change the port by editing the file located at: server\xxx\deploy\jboss-web.deployer\server.xml Once in there, change the port attribute: <Connector port="8080" address="${jboss.bind.address}" .... Also keep in mind that there may be other binding issues with other ports such as JNDI, etc. So, you'll have to resolve each one individually. [Beginners Corner] - Install JBoss 4.2.x on different port

Hi, I'm trying to install JBoss in a machine that has already installed Sun ONE Application Server 7.0.0_08 on port 8080, so I need Jboss to work over a different port. Now it is triying to start up on 8080 and I get the following error: ERROR [Http11Protocol] Error initializing endpoint java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind:8080 I also get this INFO just before the error message is shown about something not found: INFO [AprLifecycleListener] The Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal performance in productio n environments was not found on the java.library.path: D:\... A permsize of 64M is probably too small for an EJB3 app. You should increase it to 128m or 256m. If it then still runs out of permgen, then then you should worry. You can easily watch the usage of the permgen using JConsole or VisualVM. [Beginners Corner] - JBoss MDB Beginner Question

Hi all, I have a simple question. I'm using JBoss 4.2.3GA and am implementing a message driven bean. Is there a way to pass a MDB runtime configuration via the ejb-jar.xml descriptor? My MDB requires some additional information to preform its job and I was hoping there was a way to do this via configuration instead of hard-coding values much in the same way you can assign attributes to a MBean via an attribute tag. Is this possible? If I'm way off base, then where is the best place to do this? Thanks in advance. [JBossMQ] - Auto-delete unretreived messages?

Is there a way to configure hypersonic database to automatically delete messages from a queue after a given time period? I'm using JBoss 4.2.0. I have a service app which receives messages from a web application. The person triggering the event (who could be anyone on the 'net, so there is no login or user tracking) may browse away from the page that is polling for results, as a result I get a steady accumulation of old messages which will never be picked up. I could write a queue browser to handle periodic maintenance manually, but I'd rather it be automatic if possible. None of the settings in the localDB.script, localDB.properties, etc seem to handle this. [JBossMQ] - Re: Slight problem still regarding the fix for bug JBAS-1489

We are experiencing this problem as well. The result of this issue is we eventually receive a "too many open files" error. I assume this is the result of the "no pong received" which prompts the server to create a new connection. We can see the established sockets ( 100s of them ) before this error occurs using "netstat -an". Our environment is JBoss 4.2.0GA. We have a JBoss server running which contains our JMS queues and one that connects remotely to those queues. If the server which contains the queues is restarted, we randomly get the ping error. It doesn't happen every time. I assume there is a timing issue here as to what state the server is in that has the queues and when the remote server tries to ping it. In looking at the org.jboss.mq.Connection code, when this situation occurs, the "PingTask" runnable never gets to the "pingServer()" call because the "ponged" variable is always false. If the ponged variable is false, an exception is thrown causing it to never get to the "pingServer()". Has this been fixed in a latter release of JBoss? Thanks, Cory.
