Hi, I have to admit I don't have much more ideas on this. My own security example is packaged in one single EAR and works, so I would advice you to give this a try (EJB jar and web war in one EAR). The strange thing is that the "jboss.xml" approach at least seems to perform a login, but the annotation approach does not work. Could you post your full jboss.xml? Your snippet does not contain a doctype declaration, maybe this confuses jboss. It should be: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> | <!DOCTYPE jboss PUBLIC | "-//JBoss//DTD JBOSS 5.0//EN" | "http://www.jboss.org/j2ee/dtd/jboss_5_0.dtd"> | | <jboss> | <security-domain>toy-shop-realm</security-domain> | </jboss> For the annotation approach: I know that there are two "SecurityDomain" annotations in the JBoss package: org.jboss.ejb3.annotation.SecurityDomain (the right one) and org.jboss.aspects.security.SecurityDomain (this one does not do anything). Could you check whether you picked the right one? Does the security logging tell you that it uses your properties file and can verify login/password? I tried to replace my C:\applications\eclipse3.3\plugins\org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.jboss_1.5.105.v200709061325\servers\jboss5.serverdef with https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=120132 , but the same problem still persists. It is possible that you have *.xml files excluded. Check the following preference: Window>Preferences>Java>Compiler>Building>Output Folder>Filtered Resources. It should contain only *.launch. Some projects change this preference (TPTP 4.5.1, for instance). The facet should help you update those jars. snjeza/akazakov - now that we have more than 2 versions of Seam and especially 2.0 and 2.1 being so close it might make sense to show all runtimes in our seam combo and simply error if the versions doesn't match ? Or even better show a warning and if users click apply anyway and they are in a faceted project they are given a Dialog asking if they really want to change version and we show the change version dialog ... that would avoid the need to browse two different ui's for this.
