You may want to take a look at The Flying Saucer Project:
https://xhtmlrenderer.dev.java.net/
It uses iText to convert xhtml to pdf.
First use jTidy, or something similar, to convert your hml to proper xhtml.
For a better result, you may also want to enrich your source html with CSS3
"page"-related directives before generating the PDF.
