Yes, you need a certified JDK to run JBoss AS. The GNU(?) JDK that comes with most Linux
distros will not work. However, the OpenJDK that is bundled with recent Linux distros
works just fine. Or you can install and use a Sun JDK.
Also, make sure you set the JAVA_HOME env var.
