No, you did not seem negative. Facelets lets you do stuff like: <form jsfc="h:form"> | <input jsfc="h:commandButton" type="submit" id="back" value="Back" action="success"/> | </form> Which is like Tapestry in that it allows previewing by the web browser, but different to Tapestry in that it does not require a whole external XML component declaration file (something I really don't like about Tapestry).
