I know that there was a hot deploy bug with the MyFacesGenericPortlet. You might want to search for it on the MyFaces jira to see if that is causing your problem. In JBoss 4.0.5 we upgraded the MyFaces version, but I'm not sure if JBoss Portlet runs on 4.0.5 yet. You could also try upgrading the jars in the /jsf-libs directory.
