Check the access control or ownership of the file in the jboss directory tree. It would appear that you are running with an account that does not have rights to create files in that directory tree, hence the reason that Hypersonic thinks that the lock file is in use (i.e., it could not create the lock file so it assumes another process has created and locked it).
