[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Applying interceptors to "old" code

I've just been assigned to a project that is using EJB2.1. The existing beans are created by XDoclet and I want to apply Interceptors to them. My question is: Is that possible? Or do the beans have to be created by using annotations (e.g. @Stateless) ? If that is the case, what is the technical explanation?
