A couple of us have just run into the same issue when trying to integrate g4jsf (which has its own phase listener, the GwtPhaseListener) and Seam. See here for more details: http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=103603 It seems that the ajax4jsf guys consider this a bug: http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/AJSF-6 I am not clueful enough to know where the problem (if any) lies, or why the booking example doesn't have any issues out of the box.
