If you open the JBoss Server's View and expand the Event Log, and then try to deploy, you will see some data as to how the publish progressed, whether teh file was manually coppied or not, etc. If you open the properties view and select one of these event elements, the properties view will show increased data about the process. Hopefully this will help you figure out what is happening, and you can always report back to me with this increased data.
