Networking isn't my strong suit but I do know that 1098 is an ephemeral port, which
means that it is temporary, and only guaranteed to be available for the current
connection. Sometimes chat apps like AIM, MSN or Yahoo and Firefox will
temporarily/permanently bind to it. Kill these apps and restart JBoss and you should be
all set.
