If your concern is just editing, keep in mind that any good XML editor will let you declare an XML catalog. I know that eclipse has a very nice XML catalog tool that will let you pull the Schemas in and use them with no schemaLocation defined. If it would help, we could probably copy all the schemas and DTDs to the docs directory when we distribute.
