OK, no URL rewriting shoots down one vague theory. :)
I'd be surprised if it were a mod_jk issue.
If you could enable TRACE logging of category org.jboss.web.tomcat.tc5..session, run your
test, grep that category out of the server.log files and post relevant bit here, that
might help.
