Mapping the outcome to roles might be, although in many cases the ' manager, participant, ....' roles are done by the container as well. Most of the time not flexible enough, that is why Seam securiy is better. So far no need for seam to ' support x509 certificates'. otoh, being able to sign pdf documens is another issue, but not a real big deal, as is using them for accessing external ws. Were I work we mainly use certificates merely for authentication of the user, after that we use a slightly more complicated approaches for authorization.
