I deploy jar, war and ear files with embedded properties files without any problems. What is the exact path and name of the properties file within the jar file? What is the exact error message and stack trace displayed on the console? The SARDeployer now recognizes the *.deployer archives (both in expanded directories and in zip files) and the *-deployer.xml files as valid deployment options. The .deployer suffix is equivalent to the .sar suffix, and the -deployer.xml file name suffix is equivalent to the -service.xml descriptor file name suffix. These suffixes are sorted ahead of any other service types so that these .deployer services are started before other services." What are the other service types that are available apart from .deployer and .sar? I don't know of a book for all three. But you might consider these: JBoss at Work by Marrs and Davis (http://www.jbossatwork.com/). It takes you from scratch building a web application using JBoss and Hibernate. Very good JBoss "working with JBoss" intro. Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB by Johnson and Hoeller. Gives a lot of the background on what is Spring, and includes some info on Hibernate. (http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTitle/productCd-0764558315.html) Profession Java Development with Spring Framework by Johnson et al. (http://www.springframework.org/node/128) Unfortunately, both Spring books are over a year old and do not cover the new features in Spring 2.x that make use of Java annotations. IIRC, the second level cache is off by default. [EJB 3.0] - Oracle Number field and boolean

Is it possible to expose numeric fields as booleans/Booleans in an annotated Entity Bean or do I need to implement that logic outside of the bean? I'm getting an "invalid column name" exception when attempting to load the Entity but I suspect it's using the return type of the accessor to find the field in the table. I seem to recall ResultSet.getBoolean() translating numeric values correctly but don't know if that translates to EJB3.
