[JBoss Seam] - Removing GWT 1.3 support in Seam 2.0+?

Hi folks, Shane says in http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-1748 that GWT 1.3 support will be removed in a future version of Seam. Now that 2.0.0.GA is out, the question arises, what future version would that be? GWT 1.5 is churning along. I finally looked at the GWTService implementation tonight, and I can definitely say that dropping GWT 1.3 support would enable 90% of that code to go away. I personally refactored GWT 1.4's server-side RPC implementation to make it much easier to reuse, but Seam's GWT components don't use any of that because of 1.3 backwards compatibility. I'd love to work on a Seam patch to shrink those components way down, if dropping 1.3 is OK. I can also pitch in on 1.5 support as it gets closer. You want to run your GWT hosted mode with the "-noserver" flag. By default the GWT hosted mode has its own little embedded webserver. This is really only useful for loading static resources. What you really want is to run GWT hosted mode with just your GWT client code, so that your GWT hosted client is communicating with your regular app server. That's what the "-noserver" flag is -- it shuts down the embedded server and sets you up to load directly from your app server. You can Google for it in the GWT groups. http://unrealities.com/seamgwt has a target for doing just that, though it's only with Tomcat and only on Seam 1.2 at the moment. Cheers! [JBoss Seam] - Overriding SeamPhaseListener, still possible in Seam 2?

In Seam 1.2 and prior, you could specify your own PhaseListener in faces-config.xml, which could delegate to SeamPhaseListener internally. I relied on this when doing the Seam/GWT/JSF integration demoable here: http://unrealities.com/seamgwt Seam 2.0.0 installs SeamPhaseListener internally, so this overriding isn't possible, with tragic consequences for my stuff: http://blog.robjsoftware.org/2007/11/gwtjsf-broken-with-seam-2-sorry-folk... Is there any way around this? If there were, it would be a quick fix, which would make my life rather better right now. I suspect that the right thing would actually be to refactor the GWTJSF code so that it can optionally use the Seam resource servlet, and to tweak the GWTToSeamAdapter slightly to let it use a component name that is not necessarily the same as the service interface name. Then the GWTJSF code could go through almost the same remoting path as the current GWT remoting example, which would obviously be a win. But getting that to work is going to be moderately hairy. Anyway, all thoughts appreciated. [JBoss Seam] - Separate ejb jar and war file, how to do jndi lookup

Hi, I am trying to perform a jndi lookup of a stateless session bean (which is deployed separately in a ejb jar file) from a web application. I can do a normal JNDI as below: | try{ | InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(); | cacheSession = (SessionCache) ctx.lookup("SessionCacheSLB/local"); | } | catch(Exception e){ | e.printStackTrace(); | } | But I wonder if I can instead do something like | @JndiLookup("SessionCacheSLB/local") | SessionCache mySession; | That would really make my day! ;-) And congrats to the JBoss Seam team for the launch of version 2.0 GA! Can *you* run the GWT example on JBoss 4.2.2.GA? (I mean, the standard example straight out of the Seam 2.0.0.GA distribution?) That ClassNotFoundException is weird. My understanding was that in the built-in Seam/GWT remoting, you post to a GWT service using its fully qualified classname. Can you post the source of your service component? What is the problem you're specifically having? http://unrealities.com/seamgwt has an example of calling a Seam component with an injected EntityManager, so I know it's possible. Unfortunately, that example uses Seam 1.2, and there are some problems getting it to work with Seam 2 (which I've blogged about here: http://blog.robjsoftware.org/2007/11/gwtjsf-broken-with-seam-2-sorry-folk... ) Anyway, I hope to make the time to fix this all up by the end of the year or so. [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - running jboss as root

Hi all , Im running jboss 4.2.2GA with JMS 1.3GA , this server is not public open, it connect to a http server on the same machine that stream the data it gets from JMS. the server is behind a firewall that allow traffic only port 80 to it. i'm having problems with JMS that crashes while runing as jboss user, is it safe to run jboss as root user instead ? [JBoss Portal] - SSL Login like old UserPortlet?

It seems like when we moved to JBoss Portal 2.6 and the login link became injected as part of the navigation at the top of the page, we lost the ability to have it use SSL to encrypt user credentials. If there is no way to accomplish this now, I'd like to propose modifying the class that generates the login link (org.jboss.portal.core.aspects.controller.PageCustomizerInterceptor.java ?) to check for a new configuration setting (perhaps in jboss-portal.sar/conf/config.xml) to setSecure on the link generated to login.
