[EJB 3.0] - EJB-QL Convert timestamp to date

Hi, I have a enitity with a timestamp field, but would like to query it with a date value. Is there a portable way to truncate a timestamp to a date within an ejb-ql query? E.g. something that would be functionally equivalent to the following Postgres query. SELECT * FROM foo WHERE date_trunc('day', foo.timestamp) = date '2007-03-01' Regards, Michael Barker. [JBoss Seam] - Re: pages.xml Versus *.jpdl.xml

My rule of thumb is to use a pageflow where there is a natural flow (often some sort of wizard) - the user wants to be able to work their way through solving a complex problem. On the other hand pages.xml is brilliant for even the most complex (in my book lots of tabs) CRUD. Good work Kent! I can't wait to try this... I can't stress how important this feature is because the reverse engineering approach makes a lot of incorrect assumptions. The Entity bean provides much richer information for CRUD generation. Some problems that I have run into with reverse engineering include: | * I have run into problems dealing with Dates because the database (SQL Server) only has one date type (datetime) for dates, times, and timestamps. However, if you look at my Entity bean, it clearly has the field tagged with a Temporal annotation (@Temporal(TemporalType.DATE)). | | * I have run into problems with Enumerated types. To the database, I often store enum values as Strings, so the reverse engineering makes the field a String rather than an enum. My Entity bean has an enum annotated (@Enumerated(EnumType.STRING)). | | * I rarely override the columnDefinition (for an enum code or iso code, for example). The reverse engineering translates char(n) columns to be varchar(n), then deployment fails because Hibernate does some validation. | | * Foreign Key constraints often creates unneccesary object coupling. For example, I have an Exchange object that has a ManyToOne relationship with a Country. Reverse engineering will create the Country object with a set of Exchanges. In truth, Country should not really know about its Exchanges, but an Exchange must know its Country. | Because of these problems, I am often only able to use Seam-gen as a very rough guide because it often doesn't yield a working solution. I definitely am not expecting perfection, but there is clearly an information gap due to reverse engineering that can be mitigated by using the Entity beans directly. I recognize Seam-gen as an invaluable tool for Seam development. It has definitely saved me time, but this enhancement makes it 100 times more useful. The ui-example example demonstrates s:selectItems. [JBossCache] - accessing TreeCacheMBean from remote client

Hi, I have been using the TreeCache for a while. It gets deployed ok and I can access it fine from my classes within the ear as well as from the JMX console. However, I am having trouble getting to the TreeCacheBean from a java client outside the ear. I have looked at the documentation for cache (chapter 12) and http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=HowDoIGetRemoteAccessToMyMBean Does anybody have a simple example for how to use the RMIAdaptor for TreeCacheMBean? [JBoss Portal] - Is it okey to put the logic within doView method instead of

My portlet is extremely big because of different events. If I put all the logic in the processAction, I end up putting everything in session so that I can access it from my jsp (I have lots of data to render the jsp with). But if I put the that logic in doView, I can access it in jsp with reqest scope. So can I put the logic in doView() instead of processAction()? What are the demerits? [JBoss Seam] - Re: how to redirecto back to intented page after login

I couln't make these feature work until I change its scope from ScopeType.CONVERSATION to ScopeType.SESSION I noticed that it wasn't the same instance of Redirect component which has been called in captureCurrentView and returnToCapturedView, so I realized it was because of the scope. I just don't know if will be any undesirable side effects because of the change of scope. Is there other way to make this work?
