[Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Re: Explicit document source root using context/docbase

I am facing the same problem. Previous posts in this thread point to solutions for serving static content outside JBoss/Tomcat install, but I need a way to deploy JSPs and servlets outside JBoss/Tomcat. Specifically, I need JBoss/Tomcat to run the web application directly from the source tree, so that JSP / Java file changes in the web application do not require a rebuild and redeploy. Anyone know how to achieve this? [JBossCache] - Tracing/Monitoring Replication

I'm trying to understand cache behavior for an application cache used in my business layer, but finding it very difficult to monitor/observe what's happening. In particular I'm trying to detect: | * node copies | * node evictions | * misses / hits | Setting org.jboss.cache log4j levels to DEBUG shows a bit of transaction work, but nothing else. Is there a different set of log categories to configure? A different log level? don't understand my objection? That's simple to understand.... I've been using Log4j or commons logging to log messages for years. I started using the @Logger Log log with Seam and used it the same way I've been logging for years - everything's been fine until I a.) first tried the 1.1.5 release, and then b.) tried the CVS version of 1.1.5+ release. The price I paid for trying is that suddenly the logging system surprised me with error/exception we've been discussing - a completely unexpected problem. Since I have a deadline for the project I am on, it looks to me like the safe path is to use Commons logging directly - that's fine. Which is good. I purposely didnt look at your book while writing it because I didnt want to be influenced either way while writing. But thank you, and I agree about Seam. In fact i would go as far as saying Seam really gives EJB3 a meaningful advantage in applying real reasons to use things like SFSBs and when to use SFSB vs SLSBs. All of you are doing a really good job on the framework. I don't understand your objection. The logger does not log text strings, it logs messages with embedded expressions. Those expressions are evaluated. Your log message contained an invalid expression. This shouldn't throw an error, which is fixed. However, messages shouldn't contain invalid expressions. The fix is very simple - pass raw text data as arguments to the message, that the message itself.
