When you try to set an attribute in the session that is not serializable, it will throw an exception with a stack trace. So the first thing I would probably do is open up gcsMenu.jsp and goto line 450 and see if you are putting an object into the session. If so, I then would open that object and make sure that it implements Serializable. s:decorate renders a span around its content. The reason for this was to get an id that Ajax4JSF can use to re-render the whole decoration. But I did not really consider how that would affect h:panelGrid. Annoying. Raise an issue in JIRA, if you like.... Sometimes its a fine line. For example, if your objects have just 2, or maybe even 3 different statuses, it might not be worth using jBPM. OTOH, if they have 5 status values, I'm pretty sure that jBPM makes sense.
