I actually was reading your (and Gavin's) book last nite as well (JPA and Hibernate) and did see some info on DAO as well as factory pattern. That book is well written and useful by the way. thx for the feedback. I'm not sure how much of the "EJB bashing" that Rod does in that book applies to EJB 3.0 (much less probly). I'm just really hoping that a SEAM heuristics/best practices book comes out soon... This is our main frustration area... Looks like you have the database MySqlDS declared twice. The error message comes from the mysql-ds.xml file located in ProjectInside.jar, perhaps there is also a mysql-ds.xml in the deploy directory? In the back ground the FABridge is using the ExternalInterface. If you check out this post http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex_Framework:FABridge you can find a lot of reasons to use the FABridge over the external interface. There is a one drawback however, the client is required to use FlashPlayer 9. Basically it boils down to the FABridge being easier to use. One of the problems as I am sure you are aware is the seam components that you receive are not strongly typed. GDS looks like it might solve this problem since the flex dataservices would, I think be a better approach. If I remove the entry : org.jboss.cache.transaction.JBossTransactionManagerLookup from my cache config .xml file then POJO Cache runs fine I get the message : No transaction manager lookup class has been defined. The difference between your example and mine is that I am not exiting the conversation. When I load my start page, the conversation begins. I click on a link in my search results and that record is loaded in a 'view' screen. When I go back to the search screen, I'm still in my conversation and my search results are present. This is possibly an incorrect use of a conversation. It works well for what I desire to show on the screen and limit my hits to the database, but I'm also in a state where the conversation never really ends. Hi, I have EJB (in one application i.e in one .ear) and its client (in other application i.e in other ear) running on same JBoss server. For this scenarios I am using local call instead of remote calls. The client lookup is: EventRaiserBeanLocalHome eventRaiser = (EventRaiserBeanLocalHome) ctxt.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/EventRaiserBean"); my jboss-web.xml has: <ejb-ref> <ejb-ref-name>ejb/EventRaiserBean</ejb-ref-name> <jndi-name>ejb/orchestratorwithws/local/EventRaiserBean</jndi-name> </ejb-ref> and web.xml has: <ejb-ref id="resource-ref-6"> <ejb-ref-name>ejb/EventRaiserBean</ejb-ref-name> <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type> com.j2fe.event.interfaces.EventRaiserBeanLocalHome com.j2fe.event.interfaces.EventRaiserBeanLocal </ejb-ref> But when the code executes I get java.lang.ClassCastException. java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy63 at fti.engine.transmitter.EJBTransmitter.sendMessage(EJBTransmitter.java:74) at..... My remote calls are working fine when both the applications are running on different JBoss installation.
