[JBoss Seam] - DataModel edit issue

I am using the DataModel & DataModelSelection annotations to manage a datalist. The add and delete are working fine but the edit has a problem. The new values are not being submitted from the edit page into the Managers edit action.

The debug statements in the manager class's edit method show that the edited values are not being submitted from the editSheet.xhtml page.
Any ideas as to why this is not working?

Problem solved!
Had to do with my template.xhtml file.
In it I have\had
| <f:subview rendered="#{identity.loggedIn and s:hasRole('FARMER') and s:hasRole('AGENT')}">

Removing the first <f:subview> makes <s:message> display the message.
It seems having two f:subviews inserting (depending on mutually exclusive rendering rules) the same body confuses s:message.
Course I too am confused.
Whether this is a feature or a bug I dunno.
