Follow up -- I believe the problem is that JBoss 4.2.2 is now using a later version of Jaxb as part of the new web server implementation. Unfortunately, the new Jax bas rewritten almost the entire codeset, except for one or two classes that they completely rewrote, but kept the same name. One of these is what is causing my problem. It would be quite an effort for us to rewrite the Jaxb things just to be able to go to 4.2.2 of JBoss; is there some way to poerhaps just go back to using the Tomcat web server so this isn't an issue? I downloaded all the eclipse plugins from http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/builds/release/2.1.2.GA/ But I am not able to setup the JBoss AS within eclipse, infact the JBoss IDE option itself is not shown. What am I doing wrong? Is there any guide which explains the installation procedure. Re the empty seam.jar file: In the last release of JBoss Tools (And JBDS) there was a webtools error and we had to patch their code. Thank You. At least I know what happens :)) Now i'm trying to deploy on GlassFish server using "JBoss, A Division of Red Hat"->"JBoss Deploy-Only Server" pointing the GlassFish autodeploy directory as the Deploy Directory. It would be nice to have an option in this server config whether the deployment will happen by placing an application directory or an .ear package to the Deploy Directory. Is there any chance for this? And for some reason I can see an empty "jboss-seam_jar" directory inside the "myapp-ear.ear" directory. [Beginners Corner] - Dynamic configuration of Log4jService

Within my deployed application, based on user interaction change the current configuration of logging. ie. log4j allows me to use its Syslog and SnmpTrap appender. What I would like to do is allow the user of my application to turn on/off and specify the target host for those 2 appenders. I cannot determine a way to do this. Log4jService allows me to set/get the ConfgurationURL. So to do what I want I would have to generate the file; allowing the service to re-read it? Is there anther way to accomplish this? [EJB 3.0] - Newbie: how to interface EJB code with external libraries?

Hello, Lets assume, that there is application written in pure JSP, it is using server-side code extensively (creates a lot of background threads, uses few external libraries, does a lot of processing) and regular JSP/servlet web ui. As the application is getting bigger and bigger, more requirements are to be met - clustering, more ajax, failover etc. It seems, that the natural extension would be to migrate to EJB (and JSF for ui side). Now, here is the question: if existing code does use external library, and that library does launch new threads, open some sockets and fire callbacks when it receives some data, how to interface it with EJB? To be more specific: - the application does some stock transaction processing - there is Trade object in JSP - there is StockServer object in JSP - StockServer does use external library to receive stock prices and confirmation about trades - when new trade is placed, new Trade object is created, stored to DB and some messages between StockServer and external library are passed, both ways. Now, with EJB, it seems that Trade should become entity bean being stored to DB as well, but how to reorganize StockServer class? I am reading through "Enterprise Java Beans 3.0" book by B. Burke and R. Monson-Haefel and so far I've found only information that I am supposed to not create any new threads from bean code. So, what is 'usual' attempt to create system like the above?
