I downloaded the precompiled binary JBoss 5.0.0-GA and it exhibits the exact same behavior as my compiled version. I rebooted everything... hmm, I'm stumped. I try to learn Elcipse and JEE technology from book: Elcipse Web Tools Platform. [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - can't get out on port 80 with JBoss5

I am migrating a Tomcat 6.0 server on port 80 to become JBoss 5.0.0.GA. I have successfully compiled JBoss with Java 6 and configured JBoss to run on port 80 with this URL: http://localhost:80 successfully. However, when I use the ip address given by ifconfig (Ubuntu) on my host such as: http://192.168.1.101:80, JBoss does not respond. When I take down JBoss and bring back up my original Tomcat 6.0, then http://192.168.101:80 invokes my Tomcat successfully. And the JBoss will not answer from another host request. Any ideas? How can JBoss respond with 127.0.0.1/localhost, but not its host's IP address? Do you think I should download the binary precompiled JBoss 5? Thanks! I have also seen the term "domain" used to refer to what is called a "configuration" in JBoss AS. NetBeans is an example - when you select the "domain" for the app server it lists the configurations in the server directory. So yes, you can copy "default" as "domain1" and then "run -c domain1" provided you have changed the configuration to prevent port conflicts. If you have a 64-bit JVM, it will fully utilize the 64-bit hardware. There is no need to specify any options to do that. The -server and -client options distinguish between two JVMs that behave slightly differently when it comes to compiling bytecode to native code, some slight differences in heap management, and a few other differences. But they both make use of the 64-bit hardware. You do not need the -d64 option to run in 64-bit mode.
