hi peter i really apperciate for your quick reply. [Beginners Corner] - Problem publishing to JBoss

Hi All, I just started using JBoss. I am working on an flex-java based application which is published to JBoss. I have 2 questions. 1. Is there a way to reduce the starting time/publishing time of JBoss? ( May be by disabling un-necessary services?) 2. Every time i need to run the project, i need to restart the JBoss rather than re-publishing it. While re-publishing the changes i made to the application are not reflected properly. Otherwise it will also throw some exception. So every time i need to run the project, i need to restart JBoss which is very time consuming. Can anyone suggest a way out of this. I am using JBoss 4.2.3 GA. Thanks in advance. I dont think that EJB timers should use XA data sources. I don't know if you have it configured that way or the exception is occurring because of something else, but wanted to suggest this to you. I think that the rumors you might have heard are related to JBoss AS and not JBoss Portal. The AS provided for subscribers, called JBoss EAP, has various services locked down. This is to prevent the unfortunate, but ubiquitous case, of people deploying a JBoss AS instance on the internet and failing to lock that instance down - without it being locked down anybody can do fun things such as bring the web site down. Since EAP is locked down, the admin is required to think about configuring security, but doing so is no different, or harder, than under AS. You did not say which version of JBoss AS you are using, so I will assume the latest (5.0.1.GA). The default home page is located at server/xxx/deploy/ROOT.war/index.html. You could change that, if you like, or add other HTML pages into that directory. But if you are using JBoss AS, you would surely want to create dynamic web apps using servlets, JSP, EJBs or some other such technology, would you not? I guess what I am looking for is some statement from you are to where you are concerning Java EE development. I think where are some good reasons for you to switch the protocol. Where is no standard implementations and I think specification for RMI to handle kerberos negotiation. In addition I had couple of problems to get RMI working in cluster environment behind LB. Actually I didn't got it working... maybe it failed just because WebsFear as client and server.... I'm trying JBossRemoting to get "RMI over HTTP". This could be a standard way for kerberized remote EJB invocation. Also it is a good choice for you to use REST like invocation from java desktop application. And wrap the EJB invocation inside restlet. RMI protocol need be deprecated... To my opinion.
