It is up to that team to make the needed code changes to address these warnings. Have you filed a bug report on the groovy product? Perhaps you could provide a link to that jira here so we can follow the groovy team's progress. In my opinion it is unclear if the JDK team will really enforce fixing the root cause of this issue in JDK-12. I think there are still way too many products that have this issue and have not addressed it.
