Hi all, i've some questions about jbpm; in particular: - what are the minimum CPU, RAM and Disk Space requirements to run an basic installation of JBPM? - how many concurrent users that a single instance of JBPM running on a server with minimum values for CPU, RAM and disk space supports? - what are the maximum values for CPU, RAM and disk space that a single JBPM instance is able to use? - how many concurrent users/processes a single instance of JBPM with the max values for cpu, ram and disk space supports? - How many security vulnerabilties affect jbpm between two release? - What's the frequency of security updates? - How many people (more or less) use jbpm? - What's the frequence of generic/functional updates of jbpm? Using Work Items out of a process

Hi, I am adding the ability to execute WorkItems as function calls in Actions defined in Drools Guvnor. The intent is not to duplicate the invocation of Rules and WorkItems from within a process using Task nodes, but a simple means for non-jBPM users to call functions defined as WorkItems from rules. At present, my prototype adds DRL to the RHS of a rule along these lines:- ... when WorkItemManager wim = drools.getWorkingMemory().getWorkItemManager(); SessionConfiguration sessionConfiguration = (SessionConfiguration) kcontext.getKnowledgeRuntime().getSessionConfiguration(); Map handlers = sessionConfiguration.getWorkItemHandlers(); WorkItemHandler wihMyStringTask = handlers.get( "MyStringTask" ); if( wihMyStringTask != null ) { WorkItemImpl wiMyStringTask = new WorkItemImpl(); wiMyStringTask.getParameters().put( "Param1-string", "hello" ); wihMyStringTask.executeWorkItem( wiMyStringTask, wim ); } Parameters are defined as literals or bound to facts\fields in the UI. I'm not convinced of the value of Result parameters for this use-case, as execution of the Work Item has no context, however it is possible they will end up in Working Memory and can be re-bound for use in other rules. My concerns are that the WorkItem does not have an ID, a State or a ProcessInstanceID and I am concerned WorkItem implementations may break when signalling back to the ProcessManager (or other internal jBPM plumbing I've not come to yet). Can anybody with a greater insight of jBPM's internals comment (or am I heading towards a train wreck of biblical proportions)? Cheers, Mike

Regarding BPEL

Hi, I am new to this forum and have just started working on jBPM. I have downloaded and installed jBPM. I was going through the user guide and got to know that jBPM creates flow using jpdl. I wanted to know whether jBPM is compatible with BPEL. I searched and found something on its use of BPEL for version 3.x. But for versions 4.x and 5.x I am not able to find anything related to BPEL. Is jpdl better than BPEL thats why it has probably discontinued BPEL use. Could somebody please help me on this. jBPM DataStore

Hi jBPM Users, I would like to model a BPMN 2.0 Process with DataStores in order to represents persistent inputs (such as files or databases) to task nodes. Suppose we have a task T with datainput I, and suppose we want to bind I to a persistent object representing data, that is, a BPMN 2.0 DataStore D. For instance, suppose that D represents a file, or database. Basically, I would like to represent files or databases inside the BPMN model (with DataStore objects) and use the actual referenced file (or db) inside the task execution handler. I see jBPM has an object DataStore and that one can set it from the process "Definitions" metadata, but I don't know how to use this in order to handle files and database from within the task execution handler. Email Service Task. JBPM 5.1

Hello, I am reading about Service Tasks. This a good video explaining how we can create Service Tasks: http://vimeo.com/29457538. Ok my point is when you open the eclipse BMPN editor there are two Service Tasks Log and Email. But i don't find this configuration files to both Service Tasks. So how were they added? One last thing, by default the eclipse create a Hello Process. I tried to modify this process adding the Email Service Task, but when i tried to run the application I got an exception: Could not find work item handler for Email at org.drools.process.instance.impl.DefaultWorkItemManager.internalExecuteWorkItem(DefaultWorkItemManager.java:71) at org.jbpm.workflow.instance.node.WorkItemNodeInstance.internalTrigger(WorkItemNodeInstance.java:105) It's complaining about the work item handler, but where they were supposed to be? understanding data model jBPM3

Hi, I'd like to know how the relations between nodes is represented in a jBPM database. I thought it would be best to focus on jBPM3, as this will most likely have the simplest datamodel, compared to the new versions. I found the documentation of the jBPM3 data model at http://community.jboss.org/wiki/JBPM3DataModel. It gave me a good overview of the tables and their relations, but I haven't found any documentation about the different columns, their meaning and their possible values. At the moment it is still unclear to me how forking gateways, synchronising gateways, both for parallel forking and inclusive decision are handled in the database. In other words, in what table/column will I find what specific value that tells me that the node is a forking gateway (or its corresponding synchronising gateway) and how can I tell if it's a for a parallel forking <+> or for an inclusive decision <X> ?
