Guvnor's data in Oracle 11g Database.
by tom ska
Hi,
I have a problem with creating Guvnor repository using Oracle 11g database.
When I try to run JBoss, drools-guvnor.war deployment process is failed.
Info from server log and my config (repository.xml) are below:
Oracle JDBC provider has been copied to JBOSS_HOME/server/default/lib/.
I use the latest version of Drools Guvnor and JBoss 4.2.3.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
tom

Is Drools 5.1 backward compatible with 5.0.1?
by Chee Kin Lim
Hi,
I am new to Drools and learning it by reading "Drools JBoss Rules 5.0
Developer's Guide" at the moment.
However, the test cases of chapter 3 was failed when execute with Drools
5.1.0.CR1.
I suspect the test is broken due to the sequential option enabled with code
block below:
KnowledgeBaseConfiguration configuration =
KnowledgeBaseFactory.newKnowledgeBaseConfiguration();
configuration.setOption(SequentialOption.YES);
You can view the complete code at
http://code.google.com/p/droolsbook/source/browse/trunk/droolsBookParent/...
Is this code block compatible with Drools 5.1? As it is working without any
problem in 5.0.1.
If it is incompatible, I would like to know how to migrate it to Drools
5.1.0.
Please advice.
Thanks,
Chee Kin

configuration settings in guvnor 5.0
by Swapnil Sawant
Hi,
I am new to drools.I have found that guvnor is intended more for technical person than for any layman. And I was trying to use it from point-of-view of any layman(i.e. managing rule in such a fashion that any layman can use guvnor 5.0 GUI with requiring least amount of technical knowledge)
I have written a rule for PF calculation (PF=BASIC*0.10) in guvnor GUI.
For this, I have created a fact type 'Amount' with fields : basic,PF. Using this fact type, I have created a business rule for PF calculation.
Now, I want to know if it is possible to configure the 'percentage' i.e. 0.10 value in flexible manner , may be through some table or some configuration file in guvnor etc
So next time the rule changes e.g. PF=BASIC*0.15 , such a configuration would make any layman to modify the rule very easily(he just has to change the value in configuratuion file etc)
Is there any provision made in guvnor for this to make
Thanks & Regards,
Swapnil Sawant

KnowledgeBase partitioning
by Orlando Ricardo Da Silva Costa
Hi all
I am trying to assess Drools (Expert, Fusion and Flow) for a new
project and I read already some documentation, and when looking at
Fusion manual:
http://hudson.jboss.org/hudson/job/drools/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/tr...
I got this message:
"This is an experimental feature, subject to changes in the future."
What does it mean exactly, can I suppose this feature will remain and
I can start using it now? Has the status evolved since then?
Thanks in advance
Orlando.
PS-In the book "Drools JBoss Rules 5.0 by Developer's Guide" (Michal
Bali), this feature is described with no limitation or warning...

Using variables in Temporal Operators
by Mike Love
Hi,
Is it possible to use variables in temporal operators?
e.g. $eventA : EventA( this after[ 3m30s, 4m ] $eventB ) to be
expressed as $eventA
: EventA( this after[ $begin, $end ] $eventB )
where $begin and $end are either local rule variables or global variables

Drools 5 for process simulation
by Labin, Jonathan W.
Drools users,
I am currently researching Drools 5 as a potential toolkit to enable my next
project. I have read through the Documentation for Drools Expert, Flow and
skimmed through Fusion and I believe that Drools looks it provides many
features we need. However, I am concerned about one aspect of the way that
the system seems to operate and was wondering if anyone could point me to a
section of documentation (chapter of the manual / wiki / external how-to
blog post... whatever) that will clear things up for me.
I would like to use Drools Flow to define behaviors of agents as Flow
Processes to create an agent-based simulation. This application requires
that the processes are kept synchronized with each other by a simulated
(faster than real time) clock.
Is there a Drools mechanism that enables this? Would I need to create a set
of WorkItemHandler classes that perform the synchronization manually? Is
what I want to do not really practical within the Drools Flow framework?
Thanks in advance,
Jonathan Labin

Running decision table as web application
by Kripa Nathwani
Hello,
I have prepared a sample decision table and made it run as a java application by integrating Drools in Eclipse. Now how do I integrate decision table file (xls) into web application so that next time when any rule changes or a new one is added, I just have to make change in xls file and things would start working without any other change ?
For example:
I have created PF rule(12% of basic) in a decision table and now I want to integrate this decision table in my application so that next time PF rule changes (e.g. 15% of basic) I just have to modify from 12 to 15 and it would start reflecting the updated rule.
Hope it sounds clear.
Thanks
Kripa

You must either update an existing working memory object or insert a new working memory object with the results. That's how rules communicate with each other.

Hi,
I am using the version 5.x of drools and i have a scenario where i want to hold
the result of
a test in one rule to a temperory variable . This result will then be used in
another rule that will be fired
later in the sequence .
For ex :
salience 100
when
User (language.keySet contains "Japanese", $j_score : language["Japanese"])
then
// do something
end
salience 50
when
User (language.keySet contains "French", $f_score : language["French"])
then
// do something
end
salience 25
when
eval (($j_score + $f_score) > 4)
then
// update the same to db
end
Is this possible in Drools 5.x ?

Manav
