Whilst not an answer; if nothing comes to light on this forum you might like
to try either the JackRabbit or ModeShape user forums (depending on which
JCR implementation you are using).
As you may already know, Guvnor uses one of these JCR implementations for
it's repository and the use-case you describe is not Guvnor specific, but
IMO JCR.
