I'm attempting to use the Oryx designer in Guvnor, however I can't seem to
save / redisplay any diagram. I've tried it with various configurations,
including using the jBPM demo, but always get the same results. After I save
the newly created BPMN diagram, the Oryx designer refreshes to a blank
diagram. The new diagram name is on the list of Guvnor processes (for the
default package), and when I try to open it, I get the same blank diagram.
After starting the jBPM demo (5.1.CR1), I see the h2 database started, jboss
started and the human task service started. The jboss log looks pretty clean
except for an SLF4J error and a mention that the persistence provider caller
for org.jbpm.persistence.jpa does not implement the ejb3 spec correctly.
Also, there is an error regarding the log4j FileAppender.
Then I goto Guvnor with FireFox (or Chrome or IE6) and create the new BPMN
process. I get the following message in the jboss log:

Really weird error, I cannot reproduce it. Is your Guvnor instance
running on localhost:8080? Are you using the designer version that ships
with jbpm-installer or something else?
Another thing to check is if you have any weird JavaScript restrictions
in your browser. In Guvnor when you create your bpmn2 process, use
Firebug (in FireFox) in the console tab type in:
frames[3].ORYX.EDITOR.getSerializedJSON()
and post the JSON that gets printed out.

apache-tomcat-6.0.32 and using designer-1.0.0.049-SNAPSHOT.
I run frames[3].ORYX.EDITOR.getSerializedJSON() as you suggested, and what
I got seems like a dump, not an xml.

Hi Roger, you are using an older designer version and should definitely
update. The latest 1.0.0.052 is available here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jbpm/files/designer/designer-1.0.0.052/.
Let me know if you run into any issues with that version and Guvnor
5.2.0.CR1.
As far as the "dump" goes, that is the JSON representation of your BPMN2
process in the designer.

I've upgraded the designer, the problem continues, but the error is
different.
Here is the log. I'm creating a new Process named test, using a start event
(named start), a task (named task) and an end event called end.
After drawing this, I click File / Save Changes, and write something in

you sooner, but somehow I didn't see your reply until a couple minutes ago.
Yes, Guvnor is running on localhost:8080.

I'm using the jbpm-install version of Designer.
The results of getSerializedJSON() were very much like Roger's, so I swapped
in the 052 version and now the diagram can be saved and reopened.
Don't know why I didn't think of doing that earlier.

I reconfigured my logging system, and found these lines:

Unable to connect to Gunvor. Is it running?
[http://localhost:8080/*drools-guvnor*/org.drools.guvnor.Guvnor/oryxeditor...]
And I realized that I was running Guvnor under http://localhost:8080/guvnor/
. Surely there is a config file that says what is Guvnor's url for Oryx.
I changed the deploy directory and it works fine.

$designer_war/profiles/jbpm.xml
bottom on this file contains what you are looking for:
<externalloadurl protocol="http" host="localhost:8080"
subdomain="drools-guvnor/org.drools.guvnor.Guvnor/oryxeditor"
usr="admin" pwd="admin"/>
