[jbossseam-issues] [JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBSEAM-1250) Socket write error with Seam JMS Remoting
by Scott McNab (JIRA)
Socket write error with Seam JMS Remoting
-----------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-1250
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-1250
Project: JBoss Seam
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Remoting
Affects Versions: 1.2.1.GA, 1.2.0.GA
Environment: WindowsXP, JBossAS 4.2.0.CR1
Reporter: Scott McNab
Assigned To: Shane Bryzak
Full details are given in the corresponding forum topic, however a summary is:
* Client-side javascript subscribes to a JMS topic by calling Seam.Remoting.subscribe().
* The client then navigates to a new page.
* Approximately 30 seconds later, a SocketException (socket write error) occurs on the server within Seam Remoting (presumably because my Seam poll-timeout is set to 30 seconds).
This occurs consistently with JBoss running under Windows, but does not seem to occur when the server is run on Linux. It is also not affected by browser type (i.e. it happens when using Firefox or IE). This bug did not occur previously when the same code was running with Seam 1.0.1.GA.

This error seams to occur independent of the content-type problem (http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2880), because it also occurs with older versions of GWT.

Seam Remoting/GWT1.5M2, change to 'Long' behavior (impacts Date?)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-2935
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2935
Project: Seam
Issue Type: Bug
Components: GWT
Affects Versions: 2.1.x
Reporter: darren hartford
From: 1.5M2 announcement post -- http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Web-Toolkit-Contributors/browse_thr...
" - "long" emulation. The Java language defines "long" types to be 64-bit
signed integers, whereas JavaScript only supports 64-bit floating point
numbers, which cannot accurately represent the same whole-number range as a
true "long" type. GWT 1.5 M2 transparently emulates long types properly to
more faithfully maintain Java semantics in web mode. "
Although this is from GWT 1.5M2, the risk/return of them changing this is unlikely. It appears that this also impacts Dates.
This has been tested against Seam 2.1-snapshot (4/25/2008) and GWT 1.5M2 on jboss 4.2. Other datatypes are working correctly, Long and Dates are not. This seems to only impact the RPC mechanism.

Improve handling of dependencies in examples
--------------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-2006
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2006
Project: JBoss Seam
Issue Type: Task
Affects Versions: 2.0.0.CR1
Reporter: Pete Muir
Assigned To: Pete Muir
Priority: Critical
Fix For: 2.0.1.GA
Currently dependencies are just handled as before, with all dependencies copied into lib/
I propose to replace lib/ with a local maven repository (just a simple directory structure). This will only be used if present (not present in CVS, created using dependency:copy-dependencies when running dist target). The fileset's used to declare example libraries and inclusion into deployed archives will be altered to use maven ant tasks to pull in these filesets from repositories (using the local repo if present).
This requires some extensions to existing ant tasks.
A similar scheme can be used for seam-gen

[jbossseam-issues] [JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBSEAM-2389) HibernatePersistenceProvider fails with java.lang.Integer version check
by Christian Bauer (JIRA)
HibernatePersistenceProvider fails with java.lang.Integer version check
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-2389
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2389
Project: JBoss Seam
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Core
Reporter: Christian Bauer
Priority: Critical
My entity had a version property:
@Version
@Column(name = "OBJ_VERSION", nullable = false)
protected Integer version;
In a very involved ajax reRender/conversation situation I sometimes got the following exception from HibernatePersistenceProvider:
public static void checkVersion(Object value, Session session, Object oldVersion, Object version)
{
ClassMetadata classMetadata = getClassMetadata(value, session);
VersionType versionType = (VersionType) classMetadata.getPropertyTypes()[ classMetadata.getVersionProperty() ];
if ( !versionType.isEqual(oldVersion, version) )
{
throw new StaleStateException("current database version number does not match passivated version number");
}
}
This failed because oldVersion was 'null' and version was '0'.
Hibernate returned '0' from ClassMetaData.getVersion(), it looks like it can't return null, from Javadoc: Get the version number (or timestamp) from the object's version property (or return null if not versioned).
We should do a null check before asking Hibernate.
Workaround: Use primitive for version field in entity or initialize it to '0'.

To Jboss AS 4, I deployed an ear which contained jta-1.0.1B.jar and hibernate-validator, but not hibernate, hibernate-annotations and hibernate-entitymanager.
This resulted in an infinite loop, until it went out of memory. Here's part of that stacktrace:

[jbossseam-issues] [JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBSEAM-2820) Remoting should not throw exception but 400/404 on invalid request
by Christian Bauer (JIRA)
Remoting should not throw exception but 400/404 on invalid request
------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-2820
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBSEAM-2820
Project: JBoss Seam
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Remoting
Reporter: Christian Bauer
Assigned To: Shane Bryzak
Some crazy Java program is making HTTP requests on our live site:
85.82.169.224 - - [04/Apr/2008:15:38:48 +0100] "GET /seam/resource/remoting/interface.js HTTP/1.1" 200 - "null" "Java/1.5.0_13"
I'm guessing this is a home-written HTML parser or something from a Danish ;) guy or a website "downloader" or something. In any case, it cuts off the request parameters and we throw an exception:
15:38:48,818 ERROR [Remoting] Error
javax.servlet.ServletException: Invalid request - no component specified
at org.jboss.seam.remoting.InterfaceGenerator$1.process(InterfaceGenerator.java:73)
at org.jboss.seam.servlet.ContextualHttpServletRequest.run(ContextualHttpServletRequest.java:53)
at org.jboss.seam.remoting.InterfaceGenerator.handle(InterfaceGenerator.java:64)
at org.jboss.seam.remoting.Remoting.getResource(Remoting.java:111)
at org.jboss.seam.servlet.SeamResourceServlet.doGet(SeamResourceServlet.java:75)
Do not throw an exception but either return 400 INVALID REQUEST or 404 NOT FOUND.

[jbossseam-issues] [JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBSEAM-3565) Remoting interface generation problem
by Andy Siu (JIRA)
Remoting interface generation problem
-------------------------------------
Key: JBSEAM-3565
URL: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBSEAM-3565
Project: Seam
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Remoting
Reporter: Andy Siu
Assignee: Shane Bryzak
There is a problem about the caching mechanism of generating remote interface for ajax call.
at
public void generateComponentInterface(Set<Component> components, OutputStream out, Set<Type> types)
The generated interface is cached in interfaceCache. However, when passing more than one component at the same time, there may be problem.
E.g.
seam/resource/remoting/interface.js?A&B
where both A and B contain a type C
A->C will be cached with the name A
but only B will be cached with the name B (C will be skipped as it is already generated in A)
when another page only calls seam/resource/remoting/interface.js?B
C will be missed as the cached B does not contains C
I've make a workaround by passing a new HashSet<Type>() into appendComponentSource everytime
appendComponentSource(bOut, c, new HashSet<Type>());
