Agreed. I don't think it's the correct solution at all. It just worked, but after noticing the {{PrivilegedSaslClient}} I was pretty sure it was wrong.
Just an FYI if you're debugging with the tests it can be a bit confusing. Both the JUnit side of Arquillian and the container side use the MCC and hit the same break points so it's easy, at least it was for me :), to get confused on which part was hitting the break points. I attempted to make a simple reproducer, but getting the policy correct became too painful.

I know that, main problem is that elytron has few deps declared as "provided" where they are very much hard requirement and need to be set to scope=compile (aka default scope)
I am also updating pom to make it build with CR JDK9 builds which should also work for GA once it is there in a month.

If working on the Elytron pom please keep in mind that the only guarantee we make about the versions in that pom is that they will never match the application server release ;-)
