I think the reason for assuming it's a corrupt file is because Word (maybe also
OpenOffice) assumes a .doc extension means a Word document and looks for certain headers
in the file which don't exist. Certainly Word complains that the document isn't a
valid Word document and then refuses to automatically open it.
I've added a new issue to change the suffix of the document.

I cannot seem to open the docs/JBossESB Getting Started Guide.doc. I tried OpenOffice2.0
as well as MS-Word2000.
