I then tried VFSUtils.temp(AssembledDirectory) which also failed because it cant create a directory in /tmp I've seen this before (linux permission issue) before and vaguely remember that new File("/tmp/foo").mkdir() might not work, wheras File.createCreateTempFile("name", ".tmp", "foo").getParentFile() or similar does.
