This does not appear related to either [JBPM-7166|https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBPM-7166] or [DROOLS-3231|https://issues.jboss.org/browse/DROOLS-3231] but rather I suspect _masked_ by the cause of JBPM-7166. I tested with the latter reverted locally and the issue reported here remained.
