I tried to replicate by re-constructing it as shown (no deletions, no re-adding etc; just add each node one at a time as shown). Saving this and opening in a 3rd party's editor was successful. I did notice in the XML you attached that the {{<dmndi:DMNEdge id="dmnedge-_4F274C4E-918D-473E-94FF-95097D0ACD4F" ..>}} was not associated with the {{<semantic:association id="_559849D7-7C25-4A81-BA04-F791B8554EF8" ..>}}. In the _new_ file I created the {{DMNEdge}} *is* associated with the {{Association}} which leads me to believe your diagram was possibly created with some undo'ing/re-doing or deletion and re-adding of (possibly) the Text Annotation or connector? -- This message was sent by Atlassian Jira (v7.12.1#712002)
